Thank you for your request of 24 January 2022 to the Department of Corrections – Ara 
Poutama Aotearoa, requesting information about staff at Hawke’s Bay Regional Prison. Your 
request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). 
 
You requested: 
 
1) i require the names of the persons in such positions as CEO, CFO, Administrator, 
Director, Managing Director, Practice Manager, Manager of the Medial Center within 
the Hawkes Bay Regional Prison; 
 
2) i require to know who is in charge of the cooking facilities within the prison are 
managed by the department of corrections, if they are managed by the department 
of corrections, who the principle officer and their subordinates or persons in charge 
or this department at the Hawkes Bay Regional Prison; 
 
3) i require to know if within the cooking facilities there is such positions as CEO, CFO, 
Administrator, Director, Managing Director, Manager, if so i require the names of 
said persons at the Hawkes Bay Regional Prison; 
 
I can confirm that Hawke’s Bay Regional Prison cooking facilities are managed by an 
Industries Manager.  There is no Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Director, 
Managing Director or administration positions directly assigned to the cooking facilities at 
that site, although some of these positions exist within wider Corrections. We have decided 
to refuse all further parts of your request under section 9(2)(g)(ii) of the OIA, to maintain 
the effective conduct of public affairs through the protection of such Ministers, members of 
organisations, officers, and employees from improper pressure or harassment.  
 
In accordance with section 9(1) of the OIA, we have also considered whether there are 
countervailing public interest considerations favouring the release of the requested 
information, such as transparency and accountability. However, we do not believe such 
considerations are present in this case.
