I refer to your email of 30 January 2023 in which you request the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA):
I would like to know how much funding the Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited
(PCBL) had given to the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) since 2015 to current date.
The Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited to release all corresponding documents that
might include emails, letters and memos relating to the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation
(FBC) gaining funds/equipment's and what decision the (PCBL) had made to grant these
funds/equipment's.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) does not represent Pacific Cooperation
Broadcasting Limited (PCBL), nor is PCBL subject to the OIA. This means that we are unable to
transfer your request to an organisation that is better placed to answer your information
request.
We can tell you that the Ministry provides funding to PCBL and that PCBL reports to the Ministry
in relation to this funding. These reports do not provide the Ministry with any information in
relation to PCBL’s funding of the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation. Therefore, we are refusing
your request under section 18(g) of the OIA, as the information requested is not held by MFAT.
