Official Information Act (OIA) request: Microsoft Copilot 365 or Other Gen AI Licensing  
 
On 17 January 2024, you contacted Stats NZ requesting, under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act), the following information: 
 
•  “Does Stats NZ have any active Copilot for Microsoft 365 licenses? 
If so, how many, and what is the total cost of this licensing? 
If not, does Stats NZ license any competing generative artifical intelligence (Gen AI) 
or large language model (LLM) services?” 
Your request has been processed under the Act and I can confirm that Stats NZ does not 
have any active copilot for Microsoft 365 licenses. I can also confirm that Stats NZ does not 
license any competing generative artificial intelligence or large language model services.
