Thank you for your email of 15 March 2024 to Wel ington City Council - Te Kaunihera o Pōneke (the 
Council) requesting the following information: 
 
Al  2022/23/24 budgeted and non-budgeted overseas travel expenditure for all Chief Officers 
and Senior Leaders, the itinerary for the travel and the expected/achieved outcomes from this 
travel?  
 
Can you also provide all WCC expenditure for any Iwi related groups/members that supported 
the Chief Officers/Senior Leaders during the travel? 
 
Your request has been considered under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 
1987 (LGOIMA).  
 
We have interpreted your request to include members of the Council’s Executive Leadership Team 
and their Chief Advisors’. We have sourced information by financial year, between 1 July to 30 June. 
Please note that there was no international travel in the financial year 2021/22. Additionally, as we are 
still within the 2023/24 financial year, information has been provided up to 29 February 2024.  
 
The total for international travel expenditure in 2022/23 was $23,141. 
The total for international travel expenditure in 2023/24 to 29 February was $ 9,766.04. 
 
Please find attached, as Appendix 01 to my response, a description of the travel containing the 
remaining requested information. There are additional appendices (2-4) which further elaborate on the 
requested information.  
 
Some information has been withheld under section 7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA, to protect the privacy of 
natural persons, including that of deceased natural persons. As per section 7(1) of the LGOIMA, I do 
not consider that in the circumstances of this response, the withholding of this information is 
outweighed by other considerations which render it desirable to in the public interest to make the 
information available.  
  
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(1) of the LGOIMA, to request an 
investigation and review of the Council’s decision to withhold information by the Ombudsman.
