Thank you for your email of 17 March 2024 to Wel ington City Council (the Council) requesting the
following information:
The Council was recently involved in announcing a new housing area “northwest” of the Basin
Reserve.
Please wil you supply a copy of the announcement.
Please do define the area succinctly.
Please wil you also supply an update of how the Council is going to build in this area and
expected timings til occupation.
Please also include what landownings the council owns in the area.
Any other strategy you have for increasing the number of “homes” in the area wil also be
appreciated.
Please include any assessments of Ava Isla or v required infrastructure in the area or state
that this work has not been done. Infrastructure can be limited to services of internet, power,
potable water, stormwater, and sewage.
Your request has been considered under the Local Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act
1987 (LGOIMA).
In response to your request for information held regarding the announcement of a new housing area
“northwest” of the Basin Reserve, this related to a press released published on the beehive website
titled “Ministers, Mayor and Chair agree to end Let’s Get Wel ington Moving”:

wellington-moving. No other information is held, and this press release does not specifically name a
location for such development.
Information that falls within scope of your remaining request was a paper submitted to the Let’s Get
Wellington Moving Partnership Board meeting held on 6 December. Note, this paper is a concept
report that explores scenarios for the delivery of enabling infrastructure and housing around the
proposed Mass Rapid Transit route, no decision on location and number of homes have been made.
Please see attached. Some information has been withheld under the fol owing sections of the Local
Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act:
• Section 7(2)(a) – to protect the privacy of individuals;
• Section 7(2)(b)(i ) – to protect information where the making available of the
information would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the
person who supplied or who is the subject of the information;
• Section 7(2)(f)(i) – to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free
and frank expression of opinions by or between or to members or officers or
employees.
As per section 7(1) of the LGOIMA, I do not consider that in the circumstances of this response, the
withholding of this information is outweighed by the other considerations which render it desirable to
in the public interest to make the information available.
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(1) of the LGOIMA, to request an
investigation and review of the Council’s decision to withhold information by the Ombudsman.
