Official information request for information related to Malcolm W. Nance 
 
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) 
dated 23 April 2024: 
 
“I am requesting information and materials related to a former Lecturer at 
Victoria University, a Mr. Malcolm Wrightson Nance ("Nance"), who reportedly 
was an instructor in counterterrorism in 2006 or 2007. 
 
Specifically, I request: 
−  Nance's resume or other biographical information and materials presented 
to the university as qualification for appointment as Lecturer 
−  Course syllabus and reading list prepared by Nance 
−  Student evaluations of Nance's performance as an instructor 
−  Faculty evaluations of Nance's performance as an instructor; and 
−  Any correspondence, if any, during or after the course term, between 
students and/or faculty and department leadership or other university 
officials in respect of Nance's personal conduct and bearing and/or the 
quality of Nance's instruction.” 
 
The course outline for STRA509 is available here. The University has not been able to 
locate any of the other information you have requested about Mr Nance. Therefore your 
request is refused in accordance with s18(e) of the Act as the information does not exist or 
cannot be found. 
 
It is likely, given the amount of time that has elapsed since Mr Nance taught at the 
University, that the information has been destroyed in accordance with the University’s 
general disposal authorities, as approved by the Chief Archivist. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of the
