Thank you for your Official Information Act request to the Department of 
Conservation, dated 24 April 2020. Your request follows from our response about 
your previous OIA 20-E-0022, when we advised that final costs for the December 
2019 Whirinaki would be available in approximately four months.  Accordingly, you 
have requested the following: 
 
could you please provide the final costings for the 2019 aerial 1080 
operation in the Whirinaki forest. Please also provide the costs of the 
associated security and any payments made to iwi organisations or 
individuals that pertained to this operation.   
 
The total budget assigned to this operation was $878,517. Of this, $809,277 has been 
spent to date. 
 
This includes security costs, which were $10,548. 
 
No payments have been made, or will be made, to iwi organisations or individuals. 
 
Final costs are still being confirmed, as some post operational work has been delayed 
by Covid-19 restrictions. However, the total expenditure for this project is expected to 
be at or below budget.
