Tēnā koutou Ohakune Ratepayers and Residents’ Society
Thank you for your email of 10 April 2024 to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1./ Please advise of any meetings held by KO in Ruapehu District the week of 26th March.
2./ Please advise how many staff attended 3./ Please advise the reason and agenda for the
meeting 4./ Please advise the locations of the visits and or meetings.
5./ Please advise whether staff attended Teitei Drive 6./ Please advise the purpose of the Teitei
Drive visit 7./ Please advise if there is any emails, documents, agendas or discussions, notes or
any other communications regarding Teitei Drive since 5th march until today.
Kāinga Ora has considered your request under the Act, and I respond to your questions below.
There was one meeting attended by Kāinga Ora staff in the Ruapehu District in the week of 26 March
2024. On Monday 25 March 2024, three Kāinga Ora representatives attended a hui with Ngāti Rangi
representatives at Maungārongo Marae, 36 Burns Street, Ohakune. The purpose of the hui, which
started at 1.30pm, was for Kāinga Ora and Ngāti Rangi to finalise a partnership agreement. There was
no agenda.
The three Kāinga Ora staff who attended were myself, Graeme Broderick, Regional Director – Taranaki
Whanganui Manawatū, and Hayden Potaka, Principal Advisor. On the same day we made an
unscheduled visit to Teitei Drive. The purpose of the visit was simply to view the site.
Regarding part seven of your request, I am advised that a preliminary scoping of emails for the date
range specified, using ‘Teitei’ as the search term in either the subject line or body of the message,
returned more than 1,800 results. As Kāinga Ora has no current plans regarding Teitei Drive, we believe
most of these emails are likely to relate to the processing of OIA requests. Due to the large amount of
staff time that would be required to sort and collate this information, Kāinga Ora is declining your request
for this information under section 18(f) of the OIA, ‘the information cannot be made available without
substantial collation and research’. Kāinga Ora has not identified any other documents in scope of this
part of your request.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of our decision on your
request. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
Freephone 0800 802 602.
Please note that Kāinga Ora proactively releases its responses to official information requests where
possible. Our response to your request may be published at
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/official-information-requests/, with your personal information
removed.
