Copy of response to Cllr Pottinger

Kylie Fowler made this Official Information request to Invercargill City Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Invercargill City Council should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Kylie Fowler

Dear Invercargill City Council,

I require a copy of the response provided to Cllr Pottinger in relation to his report to the full council meeting 24 July 2012. Here is a link to a Southland Times article for context.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/n...

"Cr Ian Pottinger, in a report to Tuesday's full city council meeting, asks the council's holding company, Invercargill City Holdings Ltd, why directors' fees at the council-owned Electricity Invercargill Ltd have risen from $14,000 in 2007 to $22,400 in 2011"
"Cr Pottinger, in his report to the council, also questions why the council's holding company, Invercargill City Holdings Ltd, has appointed a fifth director to Electricity Invercargill Ltd when there had previously been four, saying this took away from the company's bottom line. And he expresses concern at the pay hikes for governance members and senior management staff on PowerNet, which is 50 per cent owned by Electricity Invercargill Ltd. "
"Holdco chairman Norman Elder said Holdco and Electricity Invercargill Ltd would provide a written response to Cr Pottinger's concerns."

I was at the meeting and the article accurately portrays what took place. As per the article, Cllr Pottinger was told Holdco would reply in writing. I would like a copy of that reply.

Yours faithfully,

Kylie Fowler

Dear Invercargill City Council,

This request is now overdue. I would appreciate a response ASAP. The minutes for the 24 July 2012 meeting state:

------------------------
REPORT OF COUNCILLOR IAN POTTINGER
The report had been circulated and Cr Pottinger took the meeting through it.
Moved Cr Pottinger, seconded Cr Abbott that the report be received,
AND THAT
Council seeks an explanation from Invercargill City Holdings Limited and
Electricity Invercargill Limited, as shareholders and Council Controlled
Organisations, for the concerns raised in this report.
Note: Cr Elder, Cr Dennis and Cr Sycamore declared a conflict of interest and
refrained from commenting and voting.
Cr Boniface tabled a report in relation to Electricity Invercargill Limited and took
the meeting through it.
After further discussion, it was agreed that Cr Elder would take the questions
raised in Cr Pottinger's report to the Invercargill City Holdings Limited Board for
discussion and a response would be brought back to Council.
The motion, now being put, was RESOLVED in the affirmative.
Note: Cr Elder, Cr Dennis and Cr Sycamore abstained from voting.
-------------------------

The response that was to be brought back to council is what I have requested. Please advise on the status of this request.

Yours faithfully,
