We refer to your Official Information Act request dated 7 June 2022 which was transferred to us by the 
Ministry of Health on 15 June 2022. 
 
Request 
I would like to request the fol owing information for each of the DHBs in New Zealand, split by DHB. 
 
1. 
The total number of procedures outsourced by year (including the year to date) for the past five 
years. 
2. 
For each year, provide a breakdown of the type of procedure. 
3. 
For each year, provide the total spend on outsourced elective surgeries. 
4. 
For each year, provide the amount that these surgeries would have cost the DHBs if they had not 
been outsourced.

This information is not available as: 
(a)  Pursuant to clause 18(f) of the Official Information Act the BOPDHB is declining release of this 
information on the grounds that to provide the information would require substantial col ation. 
This information  is  not  held  in  an  easily  retrievable  electronic  data  system.    To  provide  this 
information would require going through the data manually  which  would  take  a  substantial 
amount of time and resource.  Ambulatory or diagnostic costs cannot be extracted from total 
spend figures.
