I refer to your request of 7 April 2021 for information concerning 2021
admissions to the University of Auckland’s first year Bachelor of Health
Sciences and Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science)  programmes. The
information requested follows:

 

“I would like to know how many high school leavers enrolled in First Year
Bachelor of Health Science or Bachelor of Science (majoring in Biomedical
science) in 2021.”

 

There were 344 NZ School leavers active in the BHSc programme, and 617 NZ
school leavers active in the BSc (Biomedical Sciences) programme, in
Semester One 2021.

 

“If you know exactly how many are looking to pursue medicine that would
also be helpful as I know some students were asked this question this
year.”

 

The University does not know exactly how many of these school leavers are
looking to pursue medicine.

 

“I would also like the enrolment numbers in these degrees from 2013-2020.”

 

The requested information about enrolments in the first year of the BHSc
and BSc (Biomedical Sciences) programmes in Semester One for 2013-2020 is
provided in the table below. Note that not all of these students are
classified as school leavers.
