On 3 September 2023, National Party housing spokesperson, Chris Bishop MP was reported as saying “Hope so” when asked if there will be job losses at Kainga Ora following the formation of a National-led Government after this year's elections.

Under the OIA I seek copies of any advice you have received on whether Mr Bishop's comments create issues for Kainga Ora under the Employment Relations Act, particularly whether any consequent redundancies could be seen as predetermined given Mr Bishop's comments.

information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

 

On 3 September 2023, National Party housing spokesperson, Chris Bishop MP
was reported as saying  “Hope so” when asked if there will be job losses
at Kainga Ora following the formation of a National-led Government after
this year's elections.

Under the OIA I seek copies of any advice you have received on whether Mr
Bishop's comments create issues for Kainga Ora under the Employment
Relations Act, particularly whether any consequent redundancies could be
seen as predetermined given Mr Bishop's comments.

 

You can expect to be notified of the decision on your request by 13
October 2023, being 20 working days after the day on which the request was
received in accordance with section 15(1) of the Act. If an extension of
time is required to make a decision you will be notified prior to this
date in accordance with section 15A of the Act.

 

We may also contact you if further clarification or refinement of your
request is required to enable a decision to be made.
