Medical call-outs to Fire and Emergency

K Thompson made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

The request was partially successful.

From: K Thompson

Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,

Please can you let us know the number of medical emergencies you have attended per month over the last five years?

Please can you break down the emergency medical call-outs you have attended into types of medical emergency (eg heart attack, cardiac arrest, etc).

Does Fire and Emergency NZ transport people with medical emergencies to hospital?

How many of these medical emergencies end sadly in death?

Please can you cite the numbers of medical emergency call-outs per week for the last five years.

Do medical emergencies that Fire and Emergency NZ attend tend to cluster in groups or cluster on some days or weeks, or are they evenly spread out through time?

Is there a regional pattern in the types of medical emergencies you attend? For example, do certain areas have more heart attacks, say, than others?

Do some ethnicities tend to experience more medical events that you attend than others?

What percentage of Fire and Emergency call-outs are for medical emergencies per month for the last five years?

Thank you for all that you do for New Zealanders.

Yours faithfully,

K Thompson
