Reason for collecting information about VJM Publishing and connected NZ citizens

Vince McLeod made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Vince McLeod to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Vince McLeod

Dear New Zealand Police,

My name is Vince McLeod and I am a New Zealand citizen.

A previous Official Information Act request (https://fyi.org.nz/request/17924-request...) revealed that, in May 2019, the New Zealand Police became aware that VJM Publishing was promoting t-shirt sales on TradeMe with the slogan 'It's Okay To Be White'.

I would like to know the following:

- On what grounds is it a Police matter that a person promoted t-shirt sales on TradeMe with the slogan 'It's Okay To Be White'?

- Under what legal authority can the New Zealand Police collect information about someonw on the basis that they are promoting t-shirt sales on TradeMe with the slogan 'It's Okay To Be White'?

- How did the New Zealand Police become aware that such t-shirt sales were being promoted?

Yours faithfully,

Vince McLeod
