From: FYI Requests

Dear Mr Rogers,

Thank you for your Official Information Act request in relation to
Policing Activity at Palmerston North Rural Area beaches during summer
2010/2011.

Unfortunately the information you seek is not readily available as Police
do not collect the specific information that you request at this time.
However I can answer your questions in general terms.

Number/Length of Police Patrols:

This would vary significantly between all of the specified beaches.
Himatangi, Foxton and Waitarere Beaches have an officer based there during
summer they may patrol the beach area several times per day depending on
their personal case loads and the number of reactive jobs that they are
required to attend. Hokio Beach and Waikawa Beach are serviced by Levin
and so receive intermittent patrols on a regular basis depending on
officer availability. We do not record the number of patrols or the length
of time each patrol takes.

Laws Enforced:

The patrols attending beaches are authorised to enforce all relevant
enactments. They would invariably be involved in general road policing
enforcement which would involve them issuing tickets and possibly
warnings. Arrests may have been made in relation to a variety of offences
whether as a result of patrol catches, specific taskings or reactive
policing. This information is not recorded in a way that makes it readily
available in the format that you have requested it.

Thank you for your request. I hope this information is of assistance to
you.
