Dear KiwiRail,

I wanted to know whether an incident leading to death or serious harm of a person occurred during a bus transfer of passengers from Arthurs Pass to Otira or from Otira to Arthurs Pass. In particular, I wanted to know whether such an incident occurred in 2013 when passengers did not travel by train through the Otira Tunnel but were transferred by bus as a precautionary measure. If yes, could you provide general details of such an incident to the extent that they would not breach the privacy of any person involved.

Could you also provide a summary of incidents leading to death or serious injury of passengers that occurred on a train in the Otira Tunnel in the last 30 years.
