New CCTV cameras on state highway

Andrew Riddell made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

New Zealand Transport Agency did not have the information requested.

From: Andrew Riddell

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

In the last few months several CCTV cameras have been installed along State Highway 11, including at the intersections with English Bay Road/Franklin Street, Oramahoe Road, and Nautical Drive.

Are these New Zealand Transport Agency's cameras?

If not, what organisation is responsible for these cameras?

If these are New Zealand Transport Agency's cameras I request the following information:
- all reports, assessments and communications leading to the installation of the cameras,
- a description of the information that is recorded on these cameras, including whether this includes a number plate recognition system,
- the privacy report for these cameras, including how and where data is stored and kept secure, and how long it is kept for before being deleted,
- the locations of all such cameras along State Highway 11.

If these are cameras installed along State Highway 11 by another organisation I request the following information:
- a copy of the application to New Zealand Transport Agency for permission to erect and operate the cameras along the State Highway,
- all reports, assessments and communications by New Zealand Transport Agency related to the processing of the application to install cameras at selected locations along State Highway 11.

I confirn that I am a New Zealand citizen and resident.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Riddell
